“Through the Trees”

Through Jeff Riffle’s new series of paintings inspired by nature he asks a simple question: “What makes up all this beauty?” For his process Riffle goes for long walks with his camera and captures the inspirational details within the nature that surrounds him. The feeling of being small and engulfed by nature causes the “big picture” to blur and fade. Focusing on the smaller details is what ultimately led Riffle to create his current series of works.

“By playing with scale and enlarging the subject matter then breaking it down into basic shapes and colors I begin to understand what makes nature’s “big picture” so beautiful and therefore answer my original question. What makes up this beauty ARE all the tiny organic shapes and pieces all pressed together to form what is all around me. I guess the old adage is true; it is all in the details.”
