10×10 Photography Project

Our board member James Folwer is curating
an upcoming event in June coinciding with Toronto’s PRIDE.
It will showcase 10 LGBT photographers, and their portraits of people
within Toronto’s LGBT community who work in or support the arts.

The exhibit features photographs by:
Tania Anderson, Joey Bruni, Paul Buen, John Caffery, InkedKenny, Patrick Lightheart, David Pike, G. Elliott Simpson, Tanja-Tiziana, and Rannie Turingan.

The opening party for this show will be on June 30th.
(Mark your calendars!)

Recently, Toronto Life wrote about the upcoming event. You can read it here:

Press: Toronto Star

We got a brief mention in a Toronto Star article this past weekend!

Secret venues: home’s where the art is

“Nearby in Kensington, there are shows at the collectively run White House gallery, which offers precious, affordable studio space to up-and-coming artists.”

Not really sure what they meant by “precious”…
but if the writer said precious as in rare, hard to come by, affoardable studio spaces… then i’d have to agree! Our project is precious!

Press: Eye Weekly

Tonight’s show LET ME BE YOUR UNDERSTUDY,
curated by Jessica Cimó and Jessica Simas,
just got a nod from the Eye Weekly Staff.

Posted in the “T.O. Do List” for February 25th, 2010.

Here’s a quote I especially like:
“The White House Studio Project is the kind of inspirational haven for forward-thinking, DIY art that we’ll likely rely on heavily in the next few years of Rob Ford pushing his gravy-less agenda towards arts funding.”

This statement is very true,
and art projects such as ours are needed now more than ever!
Come tonight and support your local hard-working artists!
