BEES!

This Nuit Blanche the White House Studios will be buzzing Friday and Saturday.

Symbol. Metaphor. Muse. Nuisance. Killer…
Buzzy, fuzzy, gatherer of pollen…
Fashioner of beeswax and honey…
Lynchpin of agrarian culture…
Hive-minded matriarchal exemplar…
Shrill shill of sugary breakfast cereals…

A great ally, a great danger – of all the insects is there another that occupies as large a place in our myths, imagination, and all too brutal realities. BEES have hypnotized, traumatized, terrorized, and tantalized children of all ages throughout the ages. These children grow up to be artists such as yourself. Now is the time for artists to plumb the depths of the sub-conscious and explore the deep-seeded fears, desires, and questions these haplo-diploid creatures so haplo-diplomatically evoke.

Studio Updates!

The White House Studio Project is currently applying as a not for profit organization…. however we have always been not-for-profit as all the money we earn from events goes right back into the space! This keeps our rent affordable for us emerging artists who can’t afford the large rent increases around the city. Any profit we make goes into improving the space. Here’s what we’ve accomplished this summer:

This year we have built an extension to one of our main gallery walls, which is on hinges and casters! This way if we need extra space we can swing the wall out more. Also we built a movable wall partition with storage inside! With these two new walls it makes our gallery space more flexible and dynamic! We improved our wash out room and built more shelves in the storage area. The woodshop has been the most functional and organized it’s ever been!

Thanks to James Fowler, Vanessa Rieger, Ceilidh Stidwill and Vince Vining for all their hard work improving the space!

Also thanks to all of our supporters who come out to shows and make our project possible!

New Door!

We’re finally adding some colour to our front door!

More art and wheat paste welcome! No ads please!
